DON SCHWAB was born in Slovenia in 1965. Since his early days he was enthusiastic about painting; his pathway to achieve this goal was pretty unusual and untypical: through traveling, gathering » picturesque« life experience and self learning. After high school he went to London, where he soon started to paint intensively and learned from old masters. After few years he moved to Amsterdam, where he, besides paintings, also broadened his art work experience through numerous orders for wall paintings for public and private ambiences. After twelve years, he returned to Slovenia, where he currently lives and creates his art works.
Don Schwab, a creator of fantastic ambiences where symbols and enigmas from the past, present and future playfully interact. They nestle and give rise to seekers of meaning of life and wise men, lovers and musicians, visionaries and lost souls,…Usually, the painter paints these imaginary space with an individual abstract outline of artistically energetic structures, vibrations, glow and magical lights. In contrast to this colorful foundation, the architectural, visionary constructions, shapes and figures are clearly drawn. The same can be said for Schwab´s wall paintings of different ambiences, which with incorporation into the ambient, architecture and creative vision of presented theme create a holistic art work. His imaginative, compositionally balanced paintings with often provocative content bear in addition engaged charge and critical contemplation of contemporary time and our mission and responsibility within.
